Yeah right you PLANNED to take your website down during the busiest online shopping period of the year? Who are you trying to kid?

Boots.com had a very similar message a few days back, during the Black Friday - Cyber Monday weekend. Frighteningly clueless behaviour. I imagine that's the kind of thing that happens at big companies where the IT department is held at arms length because they're (just a bunch of geeks/a cost centre - delete as appropriate) to the rest of the organisation, and consequently they end up having no real understanding of the commercial importance of the work they do.
