At the moment it's on the site/server, I could potentially change to youtube hosted and this may be beneficial in terms of bandwidth usage (is then offsite) however I don't have experience of using their api.

You could try something like flowplayer if you are hosting the media file yourself.

Re: YouTube

I embed using Youtube.com and autoplay on a non-commercial site - they have maximum 15 minutes and found it relatively easy to upload and play - so long as you are happy with their logo on the player and being able to click through etc., that is relatively simple. Personally I use Joomla and did not get to grips with WordPress so much - most likely someone on the site may know some plugin for WordPress that would work - not personally completely sure about simple code to use.

thanks for suggestions so far. What I didn't originally mention is that the vid should open in a pop-up window / lightbox thingy .....

anyone want to quote to do it?

Its a subpage so its not as soon as you load up the website, its also very easy to cancel since its in a modal box.

I have sorted this for Howie using jquery to initiate the modal box on load.

Will the video have sound?

That's my top pet hate about websites when sound is played immediately.

I know where you're coming from, I usually jump a mile when sound plays automatically :o

Thanks to all contributed, is sorted now.
