hi all.
please can anyone who uses "bans" give me some info as im looking in to it for a few of my domains.

is it easy to set up a site?

are there any hosting costs?

are google de-indexing "bans" sites?

honestly, do you make "good" money from it?

how long did it take for you to make your first sale?

and any other info that may be helpfull.

would be nice for you that do use "bans" to leave some links to your sites so i can have a look and see what is achievable.

many thanks in advance for your help.

Simple answer is yes however to make it a tru success you need to spend plenty of time optimising it with keywords and adding original content.

are there any hosting costs?

usually yes

are google de-indexing "bans" sites?

imo yes, have seen a good few of my sites that had v. good placement on google ( 1st page for popular keywords) that now are lost in the ether. This is probably because G deemed them made for advertising or pure affiliate sites with little or no original content. Back to step one; include original content that is useful, informative and relevant.

what do you call good money? my sites pay for all my hosting fees, my isp fees and some left over for friday night beers. You have to pick your niche carefully, one that has high value items and good demand (and little bans competition). My sites have none of these :(

how long did it take for you to make your first sale?

about a week

TBH I think bans has prob had it's day. The business model imo should have been one site one licence fee rather than a one off payment and build as many sites as you like.

There seems to be a move towards using wordpress (or similar)+ bans as it's easier to add content and make it more end user friendly as well as being more se friendly.

Here's an example of one of mine that got stripped of it's page one (google) listing last week. It's important as with any site to get good backlinks, listings etc, clearly this one doesn't;

cheers and good luck

ive got about 40 sites running bans which bring in about £100 a month(that really is from about 10 of them as the others arent googed or have disappeared)

From what ive read, goog is delisting bans sites, which it identifies with having the standard bans templates.

Use a non standard template and get keyword text on the homepage and you should be ok.

It takes about 20 mins to set a site up but its better than parking!!

This is interesting. Amongst my sites there's two still up and running as originally set up using the early templates. I've not done anything with them in 12 months or so, no tweaking, no updating, no new templates etc. and they both rank on p1 in G. they still make sales so it's not all black and white.

My personal thoughts are that you should not use g analytics on any bans site, this is a bad move (imo)and from experience the quickest step to get delisted or sent to the depths of serps.

Anyone else any experience with bans?

I'm debating whether to use it to knock a few sites out quickly, possibly in a wordpress template, but I'm reading lots of differing opinions.

Thanks.

bans

Hi,

i have a number of bans sites and they sit in various positions at google. However i tend to get a lot of traffic / sales from yahoo for my sites and currently have one site at position 1 on yahoo.

The most successful of my sites are the ones where I have put relevant content and worked on the SEO - i don't think there is any such thing as an easy life / easy money. But they are easy to setup. If you check the sites in my sig - all except the cctv one are BANS Sites.

If anyone wants to buy a bans licence i am selling mine for £50. I bought it a few months ago and have never used it.
