Hi I'm looking to get involved in catching dropping domains, although I am a complete newbie in this sector.

I understand that in order to compete with other dropcatching systems you have to sign up with nominet as a registrar and use their EPP system.

I guess the question I'm asking is if I can get an EPP client system designed how does the actual process work?

ie once you log into the nominet database can you see which domains are scheduled for dropping that day? Which you could then attempt to catch?

Sorry if these questions sound a bit naive.

No you can't see what names are dropping you either need to learn how to build lists or buy lists in to see what is dropping on a given day. Nomiment don't offer zone files or lists of any kind.

Getting an EPP client system is only half the game, you then have to learn the tweaks and tips to speed to it up. You also need to find hosting thats close to nomiment anything slower than 5-10ms and your lost.

If you want an even better chance of catching the domains you want ;) do the following:

* Read, study and learn about the registrar systems

* Think about the systems involved and how you can beat others' approaches

* Build your own catching system and woop the arses of the 'public catchers' like dropsystem etc :D

It is easier than some would have you believe!

thanks for those replies people.

I guess competition for domains is highly highly competitive?

Ideally It looks like I'd probably have to create my own client software.

I'll get on it. ;-)
