Bitcoins in 2014?

Monkey, something id do if you haven't already is install the bitcoin wallet. I did this not too long ago and it took ages to get up to date.

once you have the bit$ keep them somewhere safe !

i kept mine with intersango... guess what? i cant withdraw them...

If you're holding them long term then a paper wallet or a hardware cold storage really seems the way to go. I can't understand why anyone kept them in any online storage unless they were actively trading/buying/selling them.

I think its probably best to assume everyone like bitstamp are just building up to one big 'oh we got scammed' and don't leave any more money/coins there then you have to.

I believe its a generation problem, last week i sold a domain to a young entrepreneur and the buyer emailed me to say he was just cashing in his Bitcoins to pay for the domain.

Ten minutes later the money was in my pay-pal account.

Like it or loath it its here to stay with more off the same on the way.

Cheers mate I had a look at them the other day, along with localbitcoins. I'm wondering if they're both going to be a pain in the arse like bitstamp?

Bitstamp aren't accepting my utility bill as it has 'copy' printed across it. Yet thats how the util company sent it when I asked for a physical bill. Plus my drivers license which they wanted (front and back, 300dpi+) has the same address printed on it anyway.

I only want 4-5 coins so less hassle to just buy them from someone direct if there is any takers. If not I'll try one of the two above :)

Take a picture of your drivers license with your phone... I remember you once did that for a company haha.

Signing up to bitbargain takes a bit of time but buying coins can be done in a matter of minutes.

My license isn't the problem - they seem to be accepting that. What they're objecting to is my util bill having 'copy' printed on it. Nothing I can do about it... I don't have access to any other bills with that address on. Might just try one of those other ones, do you need to verify much as a buyer?

Wow, better hope their security process is secure. There were rumours floating around a few days ago that hackers had access to the backing documents supplied by people who opened Mt Gox accounts, which of course has potentially very serious consequences for ID theft etc.

Agreed, its far from ideal but if you want to buy you have little other choice. What is pissing me off is I'm now likely going to have to supply my documents to another company... so at least two places it can be hacked from.

mtgox are a joke. I would assume someone seemingly more reputable like Bitstamp are at least storing them offline but who knows really.

Is it really that hard to trade Bitcoins in the UK...?

Are you saying for a developer like me, there is a real gap in the market here to offer some kind of very easy to use platform...?
