British Astronaut Back in Space on Tuesday

I like to follow this stuff quite closely. Hopefully we'll get to see the launch!

I'm always interested in stuff like this. He only lives a few minutes from me, so the local news, papers etc are showing lots of reports.

Saw an interview last night on TV with his mum and dad. They seemed calm and relaxed about it.

I'm not a parent, but can image many mums and dads would be freaking out knowing a child is undertaking such a mission.

Good luck to him!

Something like travelling at 18,000 mph, wow!

If I remember, I'll watch the launch tomorrow morning...

I can't imagine how these people adapt to living in such a foreign environment

Living in space seems like a nightmare prison to me.

I guess the majority of people could not cope with it very well.

I've seen a few of the Chris Hadfield videos and they have been most entertaining.

Great to watch, successful launch, amazing what is still possible, especially with technology that hasn't changed much over 50 years. Programme back on at 7pm (BBC Two) hopefully showing the arrival at ISS.

I just watched the launch on the news. Good to see a successful launch. You've got to have a certain amount of bottle to go up in a rocket like that.

It said on the news the International Space Station has the internal size of a jumbo yet, and that it's 250 miles up.

They had the perfect weather for it too (important for the crew, no doubt, but vital for the TV cameras) and it was wonderful to watch it unfold live, though I did have a teeny worry that something would go wrong and turn a glorious moment into one of tragedy. I still remember the shuttle disasters as if they were yesterday, especially the forked cloud produced by the breakup of Challenger.

BTW, apparently the ISS will pass over the UK at 5:14pm today - if you've got clear skies, it should be the brightest thing up there other than the moon. It will look like a plane going over, but with steady rather than blinking lights.

I might make a trip into the garden. How long will it be visible for?

In Britain? Look up at 5.14pm and see International Space Station

The International Space Station flies over Britain tonight just after Major Tim Peake arrives.

At 5:14pm the station will be visible for three minutes as it travels from west to east at around 35 degrees in the sky. The Principia crew should arrive at the ISS at around 5pm GMT. It takes around 90 minutes to complete docking procedures and open the hatch and then we should see Major Peake floating into the space station at around 6.30pm. A press conference will be beamed from space at around 7pm.

can't imagine how odd it would be to go up into space, looking down to earth must feel like we're all so insignificant in the universe!

Also loved how he put his thumbs up too! He looked pretty relaxed too!

Relaxed pulling a constant 4g; incredible the training and preparation they go through. I'd jump at the chance.

I just went out to see if I could see it, but sadly it's very overcast and raining hard here, so no sighting possible.
