Hiya,

Interested in catching a .org when it expires on the 4th February...

What's the process? I know with .co.uk theres a 90 day period where it can be reregistered by the owner, and after its a free-for-all, but is it the same with .orgs?

It's registered through Network Solutions if that helps...

Thanks!

Network Solutions have their own like preferred auctioneer for expired names... will they have an advantage?

If it has pre-bids or the inhouse auction site aready have it marked for retaining then you can be sure it won't see the light of day prior to auction.

A useful (but not full-proof) method of identifying domains that are already marked for inhouse retaining is to view the whois from an unrelated site. ie if it's registered with Godady view it and check the whois at say 123-reg. What you tend to find is that the registering service for the domain has already extended the registration by the extra year but this will not show on their own in-house whois, which to all intense and purpose is the account status of the domain.

If the domain has inherent value you will not see it drop and available to hand register - those days have long gone for Gtlds.

Lots of tripwires and all sorts of variations for the unwary in the Gtld space these days.

42-45 days is the standard holding period for domains at the top-level, If this domain does not expire until the 4th of Feb then don't expect to see the whois variation until after that time
