Benjamin Cohen of iTunes.co.uk/soJewish fame is technology correspondent on Channel Four news - he's just been on tonight - incredibly nervous - and worse getting his facts wrong saying that .co.uk domains are controlled from/by the USA. You'd have thought he'd have known who Nominet were, what they did and where they are based.

It seems like whenever there's anything on the news I know anything about - they get it wrong - makes me wonder about the rest of it.

What exactly was the news article about? We could then look it up on the Channel 4 News web site.

It was about control of the internet, and internet censorship.

I don't think it is online.

news

That's hilarious. Was it one long f*ck up, or just the one gaff.
Pred :-D

There is some classic TheRegister.co.uk pieces about him and his site statistics / valuations - plus reading the wiki edit notes it quite amusing:

"removing reference to dot-com millionaire, cohen has gone on record stating that he made £38 000 from his site, not £1 million"

etc :)

Incidently I think he is a member on this forum - so perhaps he could clarify his cock ups :)

Everything about that guy is BS, he's dad must make this stuff up for PR purposes as the boy has'nt got a clue..

I read somewhere he said he suffered from M.E (chronic fatigue syndrome) I know someone who suffers from CFS and just getting out of bed or trying to brush your teeth is near impossible..

That boy is an embarrassment to the British domainers/affiliates

and have you seen his websites :(

Benjamin Cohen was doing a story on the launch of Apple's iPhone on this evening's Channel Four news.

He was interviewing a Vice President of Apple and asked them about iTunes, - we see an Apple member of staff's response saying they're not prepared to discuss iTunes and the interview was terminated. We don't see his previous questions about iTunes which the interviewee refers to.

This was in my view mis-represented by Cohen as the Apple Vice President refusing to answer questions about the iPhone being locked to one service provider.

In the video clip on the website he asks if it is right you need iTunes to get the best out of an iPod. (iPod not an iPhone). I, like the Apple VP and staff cannot see the relevance of that question, but it was that question which Apple refused to answer - not the question of anti-competitive behaviour.

I also think Benjamin Cohen's previous dispute with Apple over the iTunes.co.uk domain name perhaps should have been mentioned to give viewers the chance to realise his report might be biased. I think his previous dispute makes him an unsuitable person to cover apple stories, I think he does not appear to have behaved impartially in his iPhone report this evening.

There is a video here:

I followed the channel four complaints link given by OfCom (http://www.channel4.com/contact_us.html#viewerenqs ) and the first thing I saw on the page, before I'd written anything was: "Your enquiry/issue has been received and will be handled within 7 Days.".
I found an apparantly functional form here which I have filled in.

Its crazy that they let him do the interview...

I remember reading about when he had the iTunes domain name he thought it would be wise to redirect traffic to Napster. What a stupid thing to do if you are trying to sweeten up Apple to pay more for the domain name.

A good spot Mishmash, and good on you for complaining.
