As I am about to post on A4u - I have warned Lee previously that his actions will get him into trouble one day in the form of DRS or something far more serious.

At least this time its with one of his own names rather than trying to 'presell' other peoples names - see my previous post on that

Agreed, but for a domain reg'd this week, and to then contact the owner of a similar name, doesn't look good for the rest of the people/companies who trade in legitimate generics.

What happens behind closed doors is not my concern. It's when it's made public, and other people view domainers as people wanting to make a quick buck!

Rob, to be fair to Lee, "childrens room" is a very well known generic phrase whereas until I read the link that you pointed to I'd never heard of childrensrooms.co.uk.

Neither had I - however I believe there has been 'history' between Lee and the poster on A4u, I have spoken to Lee before about the issues relating to 'direct marketing' of names and the like.

The problem is we have a warped DRS system that makes it difficult to do anything other than sit there and hope someone comes along and buys.

I agree the DRS is not perfect, however if a DRS was started I doubt that Lee would retain the name. I know that the toss can be argued, but that does not change the outcome.

Similarly it does nothing to get the reputation of domainers away from 'bottom feeders'

Posts like this hurt domainers like us who trade in legitimate generic domains, rather than hoping to register a domain that's similar to a company name, on the off-chance they'll buy it. I'm not saying that this was Lee's intentions, and as a Nominet Member, it shouldn't be, but it doesn't portray a good light on the industry.

The other thread on A4u is useful as it has non-domainer viewpoints - rightly or wrongly.

how would that work in drs? if for example mr jupp contacted rob behind the the scenes and asked rob how much for rob.co.uk and was told £3k.
Mr Jupp then approaches rob ltd and offers it for £5k. rob ltd drs rob....

Would it be that rob has to prove mr jupp wasn't acting on his behalf???
Just a scenario, especially as there was some belief that mr jupp and mr owen were one and the same?

Ah well we're not one and the same. I am based in Gillingham Kent and Mr Owen is just on the outskirts of Bucharest Romania.

lee owen was doing that style sale on a previous name sold on acorn. I posted a warning in the exclusive section about it. It does not sit well with me and unfortunately it seems the fallout of such actions mean little to some

Registering a domain and waiting for/approaching end users is entireley different to trying to agree a sale on a domain you don't own. Trying to flip a domain before you buy it (so you don't invest any money or risk) is an awful practice.

To clarify, the domain dropped, within seconds it was acquired and only afterwards did Lee start to think what he could do with it.

It was offered to a firm, firm approached made an offer, offer was rejected, firm wasn't going to go higher, firm was notified would be made publicly available, firm said ok then BAM!

Mega slagging match and poor messenger boy here who had no idea of said previous correspondence gets mega slagged at.
