Yep personally, I agree with the guys, to be valid I think it has to have a figure of the amount you wish to spend.

Best of luck,

This is my last post on this matter.

The sellers decision is final..... either way.

I don't like being pedantic but your offer was made after 11pm. 10:59.59 is before and 11:00.01 is after.

I would agree with that.

All it needed was some joker to 'bid' twenty zillion quid at 10:59... I doubt the "twenty zillion plus 200" would have been enforceable, or claimed, in those circumstances. Shame I was asleep ;-)

Likewise there was no need to bid £2000 on post number 26 @ 11:01 if the bidder was confident in his/her position whoevers clock they were using.

Yesterday, 11:01 PM - that what is says on the last post from James... surely that means it's too late.

That will open up a can of worms if he is allowed to complete sale as it means any auction can be challenged if you get a bid in one or two mins after the supposed deadline!

Hey - sh%t happens - but getting the lawyers in seems "very 'arsh"

I would suggest that any auction started in a thread should have the rule: Auction finishes 24 hours after final bid. This prevents sniping and any issues that have been raised here.

I would also suggest that in future if anyone wants to list an auction they use the aution facility (here) provided on the forum and publicise the name in the slaes thread if needed.

Rich

Thanks for your offers. Obviously I don't want to get this wrong and end up getting involved in anything legal!

Will take advice from Beasty - if he's prepared to comment.

Hope that sounds fair to you both.

Will be in touch, Cheers, Phil

Sadly, I think I may be conflicted out of providing what all parties may consider an impartial view - as I believe one of the bidders is a client of mine. So this is one of those very rare occasions where I will (regretfully) not offer an opinion and will say nothing! :( and ;)

Auction finishes 24 hours after final bid

That could perpetuate indefinitely - or am i missing the point? :D

It would also not have solved this one as the argument here seems to be over who's watch says 10.59pm, who's says 11.00pm and who's says 11.01!!!

I think maybe it is best to use the proper auction software if it will solve siutations like this!

I guess in theory it could :), although in reality the auction would reach a price where only one person is left. I would have thought that using acorn auction function would have avoided the problems that have been thrown up in this thread.

I am a bit surprised also that such a small tight deadline was set on the auction as well to be honest, given there was quite a lot of interest

Some like quick auctions for liquidity - however sellers perogative, shorter sale lower price but quickersale etc.

swings and roundabouts... :)

If it's really quick they might not notice it's a typo!;)

i have vacuume.co.uk - the highest bid in the next 30 seconds get's it!

i would have given you a million for it....but only saw the offer after 31 seconds!!!!;)

Completely agree Rob, if you own the domain you can do what you like with it :)

I swear I wasn't going to post in this thread, I swear to God I wasn't going to post, I really wasnt...

The bidders done nothing wrong, there was clear interest in the domain by more than one party, a so short deadline was only going to lead to arguement, sorry but it's the auction runners fault, clear interest, it should have been allowed to run or a high BIN placed.

Run it again, put a deadline (whoops), everyone knows an auction doesnt close dead on the time especially when someone posts one minute before, it runs another five minutes.

And as for James's post, he said he'd put another £200, to me that's a bid, and bang on 11, could have posted at 10:59:58pm and it was a slow forum add, whether legal or not, just a view. A nosey shouldn't be posting view.

Look, all parties have money, take it to pm or chat room and thrash out between the two buyers or run it again. i'm going to do what I should have done in the first place and mind me own.

Just whack it through SEDO let the girls fight it out - then they can't complain.

Why put it on sedo and hand over 10%?
Use the Acorn Auction system and the seller keeps the lot. (although I'm sure Admin would appreciate a donation :p )
