I know the bloke who owns the bolton business that made the 7 figure offer for the website.

Pretty unassuming guy, you wouldn't know he's worth millions. Pretty spectacular growth of his business from not a lot to cornering a niche. Esseintially whenever someone buys white goods online from comet, asda, boots +more they go to their call centre for phone help / warranties where they get a 'branded' response. On top of that they get all the shop 'seconds' dirt cheap which they sell for a pretty big mark-up!

Probably why they want to buy the comet online presence. They'd be losing business otherwise.

Roll out Theo Paphitis, Richard Branson etc Publicity machines haven’t heard them trying to save anything recently. If online sales are the way forward why give away your only golden egg or even announce it. I'd say before it closes there'll be more spin than a washing machine around comet most cases they don't even no about offers?
