Here is the guidance I have just seen from a forward looking company with respect to their brand name and domain names.

Company is Company X for now.

-------------------

"It is suggested affiliates . . . :

# Purchase a domain which contains companyx e.g. companyxoffers.co.uk to be used as a display URL on the search engines and then click through to the relevant page on our site.

--------------------

So judgements on what constitutes bad faith should not be based per se on the existence of the brand name in the domain.

It is not fundamental evidence of abuse, but merely a tool used by corporations to influence the poor single expert having to make decisions on their own.

Don't fall for it, experts, be your own man/woman.

shame the guy who bought tescodvds.co.uk or something similar wasnt allowed

tesco need to lighten up..they took the guy to court if i recall correctly

ouch!

this company seem to be with the times :)

It's a good idea because it would then stop the affiliate using the developed site to then start selling the products of a competitor to company x. If they developed a generic site they could switch whose products they sell?
