Computer running slow phone scam

Unlikely to fool the computer savvy lot on Acorn, but please warn your friends and relatives - one of mine was caught out yesterday.

I had the call. I told him that my computers were all slow because we only get 110 volts here in Devon. Must be on some sucker list somewhere.

From what I can find out, this scam originates from India and it is likely that they have access to data from Indian call centres so that could be the sucker list.

Some calls seem to be using info from phone directories, but others include specific information regarding make of computer (Dell for example).

The only thing I give to companies who randomly call me is abuse :lol: or I wind 'em up by giving false bank details.
