http://historicalwebber.mossiso.com/convert-wp-to-static-html-part-2-244.html

I started a blog when I bought my first home a couple of years ago and quickly left it there without doing much with it. The site has made £17 in adsense over the two years, but I like to keep my wordpress installations up to date for security, and this simply isn't worth doing for £9 a year, so I used the above post (slightly changed the commands) to change it to static HTML. I couldn't be bothered to remove the comment forms etc, but I doubt anyone will ever comment on it.

Seems to work ok: 1sttimebuying.co.uk

Wordpress auto updates with 1 click so not really a hassle ?

If you have a friendly host, they can set installatron or fantastico to auto-update on a per install basis, so it doesn't even take 1 click :)

I only ever put my sites on VPS' and I don't use FTP, which wordpress always used to require for auto updates etc, though things have probably changed since I last looked.

Good thinking for the stylesheets, cheers.
