I'm using 123. It says they offer it free for .co.uk £11 for .com etc. They do state "as long as your current provider is happy". So what's the going rate, if any from other popular .co.uk/.com registrars, for when I purchase new domains.

Thanks

With a .com you have to add a year on each time you transfer, so you get charged for a year.

With a .co.uk, are you talking about transferring between registrars or between yourself and someone else ?

One is free which is changing the tag from say Daily to Monster. The other is £10+vat, which everyone pays - http://www.nominet.org.uk/uk-domain-names/manage-your-domain/transfer.

I keep my .coms with godaddy, with the number of discount codes, average £5-6 per year per .com.

Yes, I'm talking about mainly transferring from the sellers acc to my acc. The only reason I ask is I'll probably be dealing with low value domains low £xxx, so building this into a budget will be essential.

I have my current site on 123reg, but a few of my old domains are on Godaddy.

Thanks for the help.

With .co.uk the registrar transfer should always be free as it is done during the Nominet ownership transfer, so that stops the current registrar charging a release fee. Once that's completed you then login to your registrar and transfer the domain in. I dont know of any .uk registrars that charge for transferring a domain in.

The Nominet ownership transfer costs £10 + Vat and there's no way around it:

I've always used GoDaddy for my .coms as it equates to very good value if you're using them to a very high scale/ratio.

Nominet would charge you £12 to say hello if they could ;)

Change the Tag with your current registrar, for example if you are with Daily, change the tag through daily control panel to Monster, then login monster and add it to your account :)

Registrar/TAG change at Nominet costs £12! It's not free at Nominet.

I have been with Daily for quite some time and never realised you could change TAG in the CP ... but I never had to move names from Daily... will check it out!

:t for the info!

£10 + Vat for registrants and same for change of provider.

It is per transaction though not per name.

I do believe this is the same for registered members too.
