Well, It did give me a bit of an idea, had this wordpress theme on my computer for a while and was waiting to use it. It's not like there is only one type of website for everything online so I'm sure a bit of healthy competition won't matter. He's got the better domain anyway

Yeah, the whole legal thing would sound like a bit of a turn-off and should be considered carefully before progressing any further with it.
Why not, instead of making a complaints site about companies/products, just have a general site where people can bitch about everyday things. I noticed on your site a woman has left a comment bitching about a man; sounds like she was a notch on a bedpost. This way you could avoid the legal minefield of dealing with large organisations and make the site more fun and light hearted.
