Diamonds Sale - Diamonds.org.uk

Can I be honest here? Sounds like you made it up to use as a linkbait to get a few nice ones pointing at your new site ;)

I'm not that intelligent... If i was i would have prob sent out a press release to all the news groups, maybe i should have consulted my daughter first before posting as I'm sure she'd be concerned about your opinion, my bad :)

Well done Heidi/Barry, great domain :)

It's nice to see some of the prices being achieved for .org.uk at the moment, it also seems to have sparked more interest in .me.uk!!!

Diamonds - org.uk domains and .me.uk etc

Thanks Buddy

Well done Heidi/Barry, great domain :)

It's really a no brainer buying a .org.uk extension as you can gain the same results within Google of that of a premium .co.uk domain, yet the cost to acquire is far less as it doesn't ooze the Kudos of the .co.uk tld imo, which is the issue I've had from day dot with .org.uk's... I personally don't like them for branding purposes but love them for making money if that makes sense. I cant see myself any time soon doing a radio advert promoting such an extension, its hard enough getting people to type .co.uk over .com without them getting confused, let alone asking them to remember to put .org.uk, lol, but as 90% of the world now use Google to navigate to there destination, who cares what the extension is??? its all about making money and getting ranked well within the search engines for as little cost as possible, which is exactly what a good keyword .org.uk does when simple SEO techniques are applied.

I visually don't like .org.uk's and have been born and bread a .co.uk & .com man, anything other than these two extension will always play second best to me , unless of course I'm in another country whereby that TLD plays god e.g. .de in germany, .fr in france, .com.au in Australia and so on...

I'm not looking to create a brand with www.Diamonds.org.uk , I'm purely wanting to make good money from it by getting it ranked on the first page of google for the keyword " Diamonds " and selling high value items, infact when people are directed to the Diamonds.org.uk site i will probably brand it as > DiamondShop.co.uk with the logo and so on, yet for seo purposes won't forward it to the url > www.DiamondShop.co.uk

When making this purchase i took the view that if Diamonds.co.uk went to auction it would prob fetch £1m+, whereas for £4055 you can get the same outcome e.g. visitors to your site for the same high value product - No brainer considering the commission involved, especially when I've already experienced some very nice sales via " DiamondShop.co.uk " - So know its potential if i get it listed well within Google... (aiming for top 10 within 3 months, hopefully top 3).

In regards to the ".me.uk" extension...

I feel we're at the same point in time as we were 2yrs ago with the .org.uk market, people were wondering whether to invest and those who did are now being rewarded 10 fold. The early signs are showing the same path as the .org.uk e.g. starting to get listed in google etc for competitive keywords, yet none of us can predict what the future will bring? I guess its all down to money and what you can afford to invest on a hunch really... I would suggest to invest in a few good keywords as there are some bargains to be had if heading the same way as the .org.uk market.

At the end of the day you have to be in it to win it, otherwise you could end up saying to yourself at a later date " what if ".

It's an interesting industry that we're in and nobody really knows whats around the corner with all these alternative domain extensions - Personally i feel the the more extension that come out/popup, the greater value it adds to the the existing .co.uk and .com market, but hey that's just my opinion as these 2 ext's will always play king in my eyes as they are internationally recognized and top level country codes.

The big difference with .me.uk and .org.uk is that .me.uk will never get an exact match bonus in Google, imo.

In all reality, the .org.uk needs to lose its exact match benefits. Too many people (myself included) are pushing crap .org.uk site's into positions they simply don't deserve to be in, because of the exact match benefit.

We're able to do this because of the combination of low .org.uk prices and the exact match benefit is making it profitable to do so. Its certainly not good for the average users search experience.

I guess from Googles point of view, .org.uk prices need to rise to a level where its not commercially viable to rank a garbage affiliate site from that extension, or they need to remove (or seriously limit) the benefit they are enjoying...

Could not agree with your statement more having sold

sold HomeInsurance.org.uk for £8,250

its about potential location location location and the fact is that keyword heavy domains rank well .

we could change into a seo rhyme but drawing a blank would be funny though

The bolded part isn't exactly accurate though. That one you sold will rank because its an exact match domain, not because the keywords are in there. It's easily going to outrank homeinsurance.biz or .me.uk if all other factors are equal.
