I just found a domain that didn't have a registrar but was registered directly with nominet.

Direct Registrations

When i looked into this i learnt that it costs £94 per domain.

Why would someone do this?

Ive paid £94 for domains before, when sending speculative emails to Nominet when the automation is down or the mail process is 'stuck' - Caught some crackers that way. ££££+ domains.

To a business £94 is nothing, maybe they prefer the security of dealing directly with Nominet?
