... What's the longest it's taken you to get into it? I've been waiting around nine months for a few sites. Obviously reapplying puts you to the back of the queue so if it can take longer then I'll wait! They say up to 2 years but Ive been told before its never this long?

On a sidenote, do you think DMOZ inclusion holds much weight these days?

No, there is no system to log into and they don't have the decency to send an automated email to say once it's been reviewed. So much for being the "OPEN Directory Project". Bugged me for years.

I don't think I've ever got a site into DMOZ - I first tried about ten years ago, no joy then and they never answer anything! LOL.

Haven't tried though in the last few years - is it really that beneficial though?

I have had one site accepted and it went through pretty quickly. I don't think it's as important is it once was seeing editors were found to be taking bribes for insertion. Most SEO software still lists it as a positive factor though and it can't hurt at the very least.

What chance do you have of legitimate and fair submissions and approvals when someone who owns an seo company is moderating a payday loans category lol. http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Loans/Payday_Advance_Services/

In 2011 there is absolutely no reason for anyone to search for something via a directory, so the only reason to be a moderator would be to sell links, or get around the 2 year wait to get your own site in...

Its time Google flushed this turd and not only stopped importing data from it, but deindexed it completely.

I remember listing my geocities site in dmoz - really great service and bravo to the volunteers for maintaining it. At least the Internet Archive will ensure it lives on.

My website got picked up by DMOZ in around 3 months. It all depends if the category you submitted your website to has an editor at all in the first place and, if so, how active that editor is.

I cannot say I have seen much benefit to my website being include in DMOZ, so I do not think it is worth getting hung up aboout.

dmoz.org is highly overrated. Any benefit I've ever received from dmoz has been made negligible by great onpage content and prospecting high quality links.

If your sole purpose to get on dmoz is for SEO then I wouldn't bother worrying about it after your first submission. It can take well over a year.

Years back a couple of my sites got accepted really quickly. I've had no luck getting other sites in for ages though, so eventually I just gave up. Links there aren't as valuable as they used to be anyway.

I totally agree with Nick11380, Dmoz is so over rated nowadays, it was good back in the days of old SEO. Ive tried in the past to get my site listed but am still waiting after years.

When i was reading up on getting listed in the past, i came across a few posts actually claiming there was corrupt editors who actually listed you if you paid. Sack that!

i could not get even one site of mine listed there. I tried from last 3 years, not one. May be my sites wont fit to their standards. But if they sent a email that your site is rejected, then we will know that.
