People are not starting to use it in 2014... what is going to be different in 2019?
Keep an eye on DL then. You may have missed bbv.uk sell for just £50 today, and ukp.uk for £91.
I missed those dave I would of bidded, a catcher of here took 3 .uk today - part of a deal.. so people do want them, I am not looking for a return for 10 years.

To be fair, if his gut is telling him to take the risk I say good luck to him and I wish him the best. In the early to mid 90's people like Rick Shwartz and Mike Mann didn't listen to the majority and it worked out very well for them.

And they were genuine 'first in' and deservedly made a load of money from it. People trying to buy shite domains today and thinking they're going to make a fortune from it are just going to repeatedly lose their shirt. They're not doing anything innovative... they're just trying to copy Shwartz but are 10 years and a bankroll too late.

Lets say I caught keyword.co.uk and a third party caught keyword.uk for me, so both are regged, there are no rights issues.
Just today, a company which trades as "Keyword UK" with products in tesco's and others contacted me, they only asked about the .co.uk domain. Given keyword.uk matches exactly to their branding and name, you'd have thought they would have asked about that.
End Users just don't give a hoot, probably because they don't know about .uk. The only person with the funds and data access to change this is Nominet. Every day they don't just makes the gap bigger.

There are always naysayers in anything and everything, I strongly listened to people years back who said don't buy any bitcoin, what a waste of money blah blah even though a part of me kind of wanted to I never did (back when they were way less than $1). I never should've listened to those self proclaimed experts.

Where is he going to get quality .uk domains from ?
You do realise there is a 5 year hold period on all of the quality ones, tied to the .co.uk owner ?
1) From deleted domains or buy cheap from existing co.uk owners who don't want them.
