Do you check ccTLD rules before buying local domains?

The recent .IN discussion made me think about how different ccTLDs can be from .com.

Some extensions seem to have more local expectations, different transfer practices, or different attitudes toward portfolio holding.

For people buying .uk, .co.uk, or other ccTLDs, do you read the registry rules first, or only after something looks unusual?
