I've been developing a few small sites and have just realised that the only search engine I have even considered is google. Does anyone even bother with trying to get ranked in all the others? or do you just assume if you do well in google then you will naturally get ranked in the others?

I have to say I mainly focus on Google, just because of the relative importance. However, I do look at Yahoo and Bing, and find that exact match domains give a real ranking benefit on Bing in particular.

I don't really know of any tactics that apply solely to bing?

No, not until there is an upward trend in non-google searches. Can't see this happening any time soon. If anything I reckon fb will introduce search and completely dominate the market - you heard it here first!!

Realistically, given the resources required to run a major search engine, it's Google and Bing that you can trust to index the most content. I'd imagine over time that Yahoo's advertisers will go to Bing or Google, meaning that's there's really only two ad programs on the market too.

Mobile might change it up a little though.
