Are there any credible domain brokers out there that anyone can recommend? I have a few domains I'd like to shift but to realise their full value I think I stand a better chance by actively promoting/selling rather than list on the various auction portals and I dont have the wherewithall to research prospective buyers, contact them and pitch to them.
Also, what kind of commission is considered the norm/reasonable?
Any help gratefully received.

There seem to be people on this forum from pretty much every market sector, all domain savvy obviously and very professional, most are business owners, so no better place to sell than here.

Ive had a few sold for me to end users, but only when the domain perfectly fitted their existing business, and if it does that, you could always just call them yourself.

Sell on here, take a profit and leave a profit for someone else.

Only one opinion of course, best of luck.

If the domains really are valuable enough to engage a broker, they're also the kind of names that could "sell themselves" because they'll likely have a steady stream of people typing in the domain to see what's there. Stick a "This domain is for sale - contact XYZ" page up and you should get some enquiries.

Yep Edwin has got it in a nutshell tbh. I did some brokering but ultimately people's reserves were too high to justify spending x amount of time contacting end users.

That brings it to what Edwin says, if there reserves weren't too high, I'd rather buy it myself and then try to sell it for more later on. Ultimately I'd be putting my money where my mouth was but we all do that everyday anyway.

The most succesful brokering is the other way round now, actually buying names in at a reduced price for clients. Using your contacts of people in the industry to try and get a reduced rate whilst your buyers remain annonymous.

I think there is some room in the market for a domain selling brokerage, but it sounds from GreyWing's experience that it's not as easy as it sounds. I can imagine it being a legal minefield, but it's something I had considered getting into!

There's no doubt that selling to the end user will reap far greater rewards than selling on AD. People use AD to get quick and easy sales, AND this combined with the large number of domains available, means that the price HAS to be on the low side.

Get your finger out and get selling to end users. As Edwin says, get a holding page up with contact details, even if you are actively contacting people.

The price of a brokerage service would have to have a minimum commission fee with a decent percentage of the sale. If it was me, I'd say 20% commission, with a minimum of £50.
