I have a trademark domain which I happily accept is a trademark, but was registrered in good faith and used to promote the company in question.

I've recently been asked to now transfer the domain over and am thinking of asking for an admin fee of around £100 + vat to sort the transfer.

Would this be reasonable, or is it asking a bit much?

How much would it cost them to take it to Nominet and or solicitors etc?

Thanks in advance for all advice. :)

I don't know but I do know your admin fee will be cheaper than their solicitors admin fee and think you might want to consider yourself lucky that they just want it handing over.

advice, if you know and they know it is a tm, then hand it over free of charge and move on.

You've just read/responded to that other thread - why risk this going down those lines for the sake of 100 quid ????

Thanks.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but just looking for advice hence the post.

I'm assuming that the trademark owners would pay the transfer fee then? As I say the domain name wasn't reg'd abusively and did have a fan site on there, until I was asked to take it down.

Beware DRS - and furthermore beware of in-house lawyers who won't bother with DRS but could potentially clean you out.

If you've been contacted by the trademark owner, or solicitors acting on their behalf do yourself a favour, simply pay the transfer fee and transfer the domain.

If you complied with their original request to remove the site in a timely fashion and now also transfer the domain name over to them without cost, they will leave you be.

Trust me, it's not worth the agro...

Transfer it to them and pay the £11.50 fee and consider yourself lucky it's only costing you £11.50

You can try and push your luck and see if they will pay the transfer, or you can have your registrar mark the name as no longer required.
