    Hi,

I have recently (today) completed the development of http://www.domainappraisal.co.uk website.

Kindly review it. I have added this thread in Domain Tools section as not sure where it should really be listed. Admin please remove if this is wrong place.

    Thanks,
    Viman

What are you using for the local exacts, just checked a few terms and they seem way off the Google keyword tool exacts when set to United Kingdom.

    Appraisal doesn't work? Just get

"Record for this domain is not available right now. Please try again in 48 hours."

Good point - However the number you see on my site is total search and not just based on Google. It covers all major search engines including Google.

I suppose I am trying to show Total UK search rather then just Google UK search which is about 70-75% and not ignore the other numbers.

Yes, the database has over 21 million keywords and phrases. But of course it does not cover everything :). for example asdasdasd.com would not be covered. But it will get logged and then every few days I will get the data for it.

Ideally in the next phase of development I will automate the script so that the data is captured directly and valuation provided.

I have just updated the DB with domains that were not found. It should now report on your particular domain.

Thanks. I did a couple more.

    create_co_uk $7,460.00
    bbb_co_uk $7,300.00

I wouldn't sell for these figures.

Very subjective area these types of tools.

I still like the look of the site. All the best with it.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that end of the day the price is what the buyer is prepared to pay and sellar prepared to accept. The tool is more to be used as an indicator. It does heavily reply on UK search data for keywords.

I will be updating the algo every few weeks based on past selling price to get the valuation closer to real sell value so hopefully it will get better with time.

Once again thanks for your feedback.

Just my opinion but surely if its for .co.uk domains it would make sense to have the price stated in the local currency (Sterling £)

Valid point and I have made some change so that you get valuation in

$ / £ / Eur (of course its approximate but should give decent idea on value in GBP.

    Thanks for that.

    Hi Bailey,

Sorry that is my mistake as I posted it here and then realised maybe Domain tools is correct place for it. Maybe the admin can merge or close the other thread if it creates problems.

Also I have changed the valuation to be shown in $, £ and Eur. So that should help.

    Thanks for your support.

And now prices are in $, £ and Eur ;)

Thanks and I agree that does make life easier rather then converting it everytime.

Clean looking site. I tested quickly and it was fast response from the US. Two things:
    1) maybe change ENTER SECURITY CODE to ENTER SECURITY WORD
    2) run spell check on paragraphs - seller not sellar, occasions not occassions, etc.

You're off to a good start - bookmarking site!

Tried two of my domains, but info wasn't available. Unlikely users will return 48hrs later, instead they'll go somewhere else, and probably never return, as they'll end up finding tools that do work.

Making it possible to enter 'any combination' of letters and numbers would be something to strive for.

i.e just typed in ggewdcf.com in Valuate, which obviously ran the search against 'live' data. Would this be possible?

Its not very good. Its nearly as bad as that crappy old www.domtastic.co.uk for uk domain appraisals.

I like the site design, nice clean and easy to use. The issue I have is that the appraisals are way out. Do you use any actual sales data in your valuations?

I appraised 3 domains, the first was significantly less than what I paid for it and even less than I think it's worth. The second was less than 5% of the price I sold it for. The third was valued at £31.50 despite receiving 1.5k unique visits per month and proving me with more than that each week in profit.

Wouldn't it be worth having advanced filters whereby users could add data like "monthly advertising income" and "monthly unique hits" etc? It doesn't matter how good the site is, if the tool is not accurate then those in the know won't use it and those not in the know will become even more confused which would be a very bad thing for the domain industry.

Thanks John. Both points taken into account and updated on site. Have gone for "Captcha" as sometimes it throws up numbers.

Thanks Philip for your comments. Currently the db was built using english dictionary words and phrases that use them. In future release (hopefully within next 1 or 2 weeks), I will try to get live data so that should clear up this problem.

Alex, thanks for your detailed feedback.

The tool only appraises the domain without the site and if there is sufficient interest then I would be happy to add some filters that take into account a developed website.

The current algo does take into account over 10 different variables. Some of these are: UK Search (not just google), Domain length, Competition, Search trend, CPC, etc...

As this is my first attempt I have just focussed on the domain name. However I do like your suggestion and may create a separate page for Developed website appraisal. Just need some time now
