Hi,

I've found a domain I'm after, but the owner passed away in 2009.

Any top tips for trying to get hold of it?

Thanks

Hello Phil. No expert knowledge but a couple of thoughts.

(a) Is this Nominet or another registry ? I ask because you mentioned 2009 and Nominet T&Cs state "18. If you are an individual, this contract will end if you die and the person legally appointed to deal with your assets after you die does not transfer the domain name (either to themselves or someone else) within a year of your death (or the end of their appointment, whichever comes first)."

(b) Regardless of registry, if the registrant was UK resident or had other UK links, you could try to find the executor / appointed person through the Principal Probate Registry http://www.justice.gov.uk/courts/probate/copies-of-grants-wills

Well somebodies obviously paying the renewals, given the death is well before the extended renewal period now in place. I would hope people would tread sensitively given my experience when I lost my wife and fellow director (sue) Didn't take long for the Wolfs to be at Nominets door
