Evening all,

I've been looking at Domain Lore advanced bids on dropping domains.
Can somebody tell me why some say 'Private catch only'. Yesterday these were saying 'private auction only'?
What does this mean???

I cant see a definition on the site.

Cheers.

Chris

Doh!

Sorry - just worked it out!

*private catch only - this domain name contravenes DomainLore policy of eligible auctions. If you catch it and would like to privately fulfill the request, posted for sale domain will be immediately sold directly to the interested party. Highest bidder wins.

I don't think it's that cut and dry. Some TMs are also generics e.g. Apple. Others are unmistakable e.g. Coca cola. I imagine half the generic one-word domains are trademarked in one class or another, albeit unrelated to the keyword. A carte blanche ban on any TM would be as excessively severe as an 'anything goes' stance would be too risky, in my opinion.

I see only three there currently, two of which are UNDOUBTEDLY TMs.

So, today looking at 'advanced bids on deleting domains' I see the following:

"Due to drop information below is intended for domain catchers and domain sellers only. It seems that we can not classify you as one, as you haven't sold any domains on DomainLore as of yet."

Why has this feature been introduced? I cant see any benefit to it. Surely if I was a domain catcher it would be useful for me to be able to see what people were bidding on that way I might catch it and decide to sell it on DL? Now they are just ***** out.

Just sell a single domain via DL and you'll be able to see the list.

Yeah but why have it in the first place? I cant see the value in it.
If I want to backorder a domain its of benefit to me that as many private catchers see it as possible, and surely of benefit to DL as it increases the chances of an auction.

I've listed a domain that didn't sell, so essentially paid £5 to DL so its not as if they haven't received anything from me....
