I know a few of you guys use them for your portfolios, but I've enquired regarding a couple of names now and aside from the unrealistic price expectations of the seller, DomainNameSales don't half hassle you afterwards asking how they can make a deal work, even if you've been clear that £10k is no where near the £100k asking price, so forget it. I've unsubscribed but they still email directly! Not sure if sellers are happy with this persistent approach, but it certainly put me off trying in the future.

In a way I don't mind, but their responses are automated to "how can we make a deal work" despite already telling them that we are light years apart on price. I've replied before now and said my offer is still £10k and they've come back saying the seller still wants £100k, so that isn't exactly them making a deal work!

Yeah I get emails constantly after enquiring over a couple of domains, seems a new broker comes along and you get added to the follow up lead list again.

They are persistent and although its annoying as a potential buyer, it must be wonderful as a seller to have brokers that actually actively look to make a sale and maximise on price plus do some outreach rather the normal guys that expect a commission do doing very little.

They pick up the phone too. Office opened in Manchester with new brokers. Should be good.

They've sold a few names for me, where the amount of time between the initial enquiry and the sale was over 2 years. Personally, I'd never follow up that many times, over such a long period - but it shows it works.

What you describe actually sounds like a great service from the perspective of a seller....

So they collect leads and then put in the hours trying to close a sale on your behalf, without adding any additional fees on top of your commission?

I agree as a seller, that is great having a team do the leg work. The point being that when you are looking to buy a domain I personally feel is worth for example £10,000, but the seller is asking £100,000, so you tell the sales person that there is no point continuing, you then get multiple replies for months asking how to make it work! Bit of a pain, but understand the business model.

I agree as a seller, that is great having a team do the leg work. The point being that when you are looking to buy a domain I personally feel is worth for example £10,000, but the seller is asking £100,000, so you tell the sales person that there is no point continuing, you then get multiple replies for months asking how to make it work! Bit of a pain, but understand the business model.

I was more an example of the extremities of negotiation rather than a specific case, but yes, whilst I had room for movement it became pointless when they wanted 10x more. Anyway, point being that there "can we make a deal" emails seemed to have no thought to it, and opting out of emails doesn't stop them asking. Still, like I said, sure it works nicely for the sellers, and maybe one day I'd have domains worthy of listing.

Where as if you made an opening offer and increased a few times to your max, it would make it pointless trying with any regularity, but worth periodic revisiting (say yearly) to see if either party will move.

If the gaps are big enough, it should nullify the above.

I'm just trying to figure out, their logic, if its pestering for pestering sake or sound logic.

If its logical, it sounds like a good service.

No they do as Ian said pretty much, I made an offer on a domain which when they returned the enquiry I said ive got room for movement but will not get remotely close to their valuation.

Month after month they continued to follow up asking the same questions even though they knew I wasnt going to budge..................I then finally told them the domain was listed over at Godaddy auctions for just above what I wanted to go to but still miles below what they were trying to reach, that didnt even stop them to still reach out every so often. The last contact i had from them about this domain was a simple "if we cant agree on that domain, is there any others you are interested in" lol.

Like I say, perfect for a seller..........................but as a buyer I doubt I would even enquire anymore unless I really wanted a domain they were selling and I had deep pockets.

Different story then, I was hoping it were logical but persistent but seems its hard sell, which rarely works on anything other than face to face and impulse buys.

No, they give the buyer a price first, £100k for example, I reply with forget it, I was looking to spend £10k, they reply with no problem, the buyer can move a little, but this is a premium domain so won't move by much, I say I'll leave it, they go quiet for a week, then send emails periodically asking how we can do a deal. I replied to one saying my offer is £10k still, they reply saying the buyer still wants £100k - waste of my time!

Slightly more simplistic than what happened, but sure you get the idea.
