You agree a price on a name, invoice them and then they start haggling :-(

Must be deadbeat season. Hope their reading this.

had this a few times, latest one was from an It guy in a council. I just gave up in the end..

Also, the ones you agree a price and then they disappear.

On the positive, when this does happen the domain in question sells for more down the track.

Doesn't make me happier but, I've got used to it. I don't ever consider a sale as finalised until money is in the bank. One of the reasons I quite like dealing with the Yanks is they hate pissing about and generally expect anything agreed in the morning to be finalised and finished by mid-afternnoon.

Yanks can be quite pushy in the negotiation stages. Just sold a name through afternic.com and pleasantly surprised by the process and the payout seemed faster than Sedo would be. You can send messages back and forth without delayed approvals like Sedo.

You've lost me, if you cut a deal and you have evidence, then the agreement is enforceable.

Unbelievable time waster, enforcement like to see that ... think he was a wind up

We agree on a price, sent him an invoice. Then he starts sending loads of lame emails. Why you selling? what else you got? etc etc back and forth complete nonsense. Then he starts negotiating on another name. Don't care about the sale, just wasting my time repeatedly.

He last email a few minutes ago was "its a bit seasonal" ???? nutter

Agreed, very annoying. I had one last year and one a couple of months ago, complete waste of time and neither sale went through. :( Numpty tyre kickers!

Yep, had it happen before.

As you say it's the time wasting which is more annoying than the lost sale. Often not worth throwing good money (or time) after bad.

I agree it is annoying, i had a £5k deal lined up with a solicitor, agreed price, terms, payment everything, had all the emails to prove this,he then kept delaying and saying we didn't set a time frame for completion, i kept it polite to start, then got pissed off , but what can you do really?, for £5k to start proceedings against a solicitor would not be worth it.

Like the post above i don't consider a deal done until the money is in my bank.
I agree with the statement about Americans, that's how i like it too, if you make an offer then have the money and we can complete quickly, absolutely no need to drag stuff out.

I hate businesses who start tax hassles, what if I pay cash ? What if I pay from a non-eu account, blah blah.

I HATE selling, so first bit of hassle I drop it like a leaking mcdonalds apple pie :)

I made an offer on a domain last week and the idea for acquiring the name fell through, so it was not needed after all. This was half way through negotiations on buying the name.

However I still bought the name. I would not waste other people's time.

If he's a member name and shame.

I think Dun & Bradstreet may have a collection service for small businesses. Might be worth sacrificing £1k (or whatever their cut is) to get the other £4k...
