dot tel anyone got any idea of value yet?

I bought a few .tel domains in the landrush and wondered whether there have been any sales or whether anyone has any idea as to values in this tld.

It is very hard to value the TLD. Some .tel domains were sold at prices in the mid thousands (US $) from what I remember but I can't say that I've seen any major sales recently.

First one I saw and actual used unlock.tel

I am warming to the idea but not in buying them. They are to the point, INFORMATION! INFORMATION! INFORMATION! if used correctly

The only downside anyone can reg a name and put THEIR details on so it's not 100% which it should have been from the off. Someone could reg a-business-name.tel put their details on to catch people looking for that business

Value lower than a 30+ character .me.uk domain with no site for 99.999999999999% of them.

Thanks for listing those prices it gives an insight. Seems there have been some decent sales such as the storage.tel and hire.tel but also some that surprise such as phoneshop.tel

.tel is about information.
Some people register .tel domains and expect to have a regular websides
and get frustrated.
In my opinion .tel has a great future ahead (if used properly)
Here are two great .tel sites:
northantstaxi.tel
europeanferries.tel
This is the best example of .tel used properly
I think Yellow Pages and other Directories will have a huge problem on their hands because .tel can be set up very quickly and for almost nothing

I really don't see the point of .tel at all. Looking at the European Ferries site it's never going to have the functionality it needs to be properly useful. Let's say you want to go to Zeebrugge and don't know which ferries go there or which ports they leave from - how do you extract this information from the.tel site?

Give me a well designed, fully functioned website any day.

Aside from the laughter I agree it does need more functionality to be taken seriously. I think I've seen just one .tel in SERPs since they were launched.

If I were looking for european ferries I'd type it on a search engine and visit a web page with lots of lovely pictures and info.

To many people have written the extension off but if you really just think about it and make the right project there can be some very good money earnt from this extension.

Im so glad to be a part of it even though I know many people think it is rubbish.

The solution has been to introduce a special sub-type of a text (TXT) record with a ‘.tad’ suffix. This is stored in a special folder within the .tel domain.

This record contains the title, label, description, and URI to use in the advertisement, as well as display settings which enable the domain owner to position the advert in their chosen place on the page (top, bottom, or right) when the content is delivered to the proxy page.
