Latest Dragons Den

Just watched the latest dragons den and am sure i'm missing something... there was a lady that said she just launched a property rental listing/ short lets website and it'd cost her £239k? I wonder what some fellow Acorners could do with 239K?! Anyone know what the url was?

I imagine the whole concept will unfortunately end up being snuffed out by AirBnB.com or the like, simply because the mega-sites will have the booking volumes and the "social proof" (votes/comments from previous guests and from their hosts) to provide a "safe" environment for facilitating such interactions. Especially if they take the decision to hive off their popular, higher-end properties into a separate brand.

Anyone seen the Canadian's Dragon's Den tonight with what went off with jobloft? It's just been on tonight on Dave.

I have never seen anything like that in my life!

They agreed a deal with 3 top Dragon's, they go to do the follow up a few weeks later on and for some reason their University lecturer turns up and starts to tell the Dragon's how to run the business. When the Dragon's counter this guy starts a rant at them for not having business degrees even though they each have £200m+ in the bank and he has zero.

They look at each other and rip the cheque up and walk back out..... It looked like the owners had second thoughts about the deal between the den and signing up. If that is the case they could have just said instead of authorising a guy to make them all look daft, very bad PR.

Speechless... but funny that a few people could believe their lecturer who has nothing against the wisdom of people who have run many successful companies.

Yes, very comical. I thought that all five dragons had agreed to invest? That lecturer wants a serious talking to. I see jobloft is no more -- what a surprise

Yep I think all 5 did but only those 3 turned up to do the deal. I think they just got greedy mate, imagine how much you would have to pay to get 5 dragons like that to give you business advice.

But no point those guys blaming that academic in all honesty, they let him do it and back him instead of the dragons.

Numerous job board software packages around these days..... their's or what is left of it seems to be stuck in a 2007 design.

In fact looks terrible compared to some of the others, I looked at the company that does the Guardian Jobs and others. I was going to put it on HGV.co.uk and they wanted 24k for the design and start up (£10k of that was for the first year license, 10k each year after that).

I was and am really tempted to get it so there is huge money in the industry, shame they blew it. I think from the original pitch they actually wanted to start a job site and market it to take on Monster ect.... That's why the Dragon's agreed to the deal. Then it changed to them leasing out the job board software, so Dragons were miffed. Now it looks like they just pimped out their software for others to set up brands.
