Does anyone know which site it is that gives you drop lists going forward more than 7 days?

I happened across it a few weeks ago doing something else, but I can't find it for trying now!

Cheers

Looks like DomainView have started charging for their drop lists today :(

They claim 8m domains actively tracked (though I'm not sure if all of the domains appear in the droplists, or some are kept back?).

That and the other thread regarding peak .uk registrations made me wonder how many domains there are.

Nominet says:

10 million .uk domains as of March 2012
93% of which are .co.uk (9.3m)
6% are .org.uk (600k)
The remaining 1% are most likely to be .ltd.uk I guess

Tracking 80% of registered domains would make DomainView's database pretty impressive, but £300 a year is quite a bit to pay for a droplist when 99.9% of the names are completely uninteresting.

14 days with bolt-on @ dce_co_uk

Have had the DCE membership, but cancelled it today. Found their drop and ftr lists difficult to use - the website felt like a very immature product with a lot still to do.

The "domain registered" plug-in was pretty good, but now that I have a Nominet DAC account, I figure there are easier ways to do that.

If you have DAC membership there is nothing to stop you making your own droplists.

How do you do that then? Say for someone like myself who doesn't know how to do any sort of coding, or doesn't know what you have to do to make a drop list, how do you go about that?

I assume you need some sort of coded system to do these things, so, telling someone there's nothing to stop them making their own drop list, is a bit silly if indeed there is something stopping them doing it, like not knowing how :)

Well I assumed some knowledge in coding otherwise what is the point of getting DAC access? The principle behind making a droplist is looking up a domain. If it's registered keep note of that date. It should expire 92 days after that. There is a lot of free information around but it involves some work and time.

I've got lists on my site (they aren't great), and DomainLore have decent lists. You can find what you need for free really.

@Rob, Out of interest how are you offering a back order service and monitoring 8 million domains using one DAC allowance? Seems near on impossible to me!

I don't have to use the DAC on 8 million domains every day.

Aaron - I did try your lists, and they're a useful addition, but they're too out of date in terms of renewals to be great.

DomainLore's list is OK, but it's nowhere near as complete as Rob's at DomainView. (DAC wise I didn't catch any domains there though.. DomainJunky was more successful for that..)

The best I've done so far is to merge all three!

Re using the DAC on 8m domains, there are only around 2-3k expiring each day from what I can tell. If you monitor those for 30 days forward and 30 days backwards, you only need around 150k ish lookups per day for monitoring I would have thought.

I use the "spare" DAC quota at the end of the catch session to maintain my lists, generally works out OK although some days you get none if you happen to be going for something that drops late in the day or doesn't drop.

I don't even bother checking every single domain, mine are pre-filtered only to include dictionary words and no hyphens or numbers.

Even then the quality of what I see dropping is shocking lately.

I agree, waste of time....I picked up 1 name today and that was for someone else. I'll never get that time back...could have been looking for hand reg names instead...pfffttt
