can someone please recommend a dropped domain site with up to the minute availability?

since the demise of deleting.co.uk I don't think one exists anymore for .uk domains, could be wrong tho?

No such site exists. If it did, Nominet would soon shut it down. You could check out ******** (no affiliation, no plug) for expiring/expired lists. Oh I'm not allowed to post urls! lol. So much for trying to help.

Why aren't they allowed, and what's the difference between a dropped domain and an expired one?

DN's expire long before they drop (i.e. become available to register). Drop lists aren't allowed as they'd be in breach of Nominet's DAC contract, which doesn't allow register info to be displayed to an end user.

Oh, that's useful to know. I wouldn't have bothered checking old expired lists.

when you look up who owns a domain and it says renewal date, lets say Jan 21, does that mean it will become available to someone else on Jan 21 or is there a period beyond Jan 21 that you have to wait to?

Normally 92 or 99 days after expiry
