Ebuyer cyber Monday fiasco

Ebuyer tried and failed to hold a £1 cyber Monday sale today and failed miserably, Got a mail this morning claiming that "every product £1 refreshing every hour"

Well after about 0 seconds from 11am it crashed and is still crashed

Oh well - have a look at the PR storm kicking off on twitter

What an awesome if somewhat counter-intuitive marketing strategy!
Get loads of people to visit the site, site crashes, everyone starts tweeting about it and posting on forums, sort the server problem out, get loads more visitors than you would have as the thing's gone viral!
Just visited and all they had in the £1 stuff was dross.
