I very nearly didn't click on this thread... I just didn't realise from the thread title that it was a petition against Nominet's 50% price hike. Very glad I did click on it now as this is so important.

Can I suggest changing the thread title to make it clear what the petition is for please. There must be many hundreds of Nominet members who would be eager to get behind this and we need all the signatures we can get. Let's make it as clear as possible to hook in as many potential votes as possible.

Can I please suggest bolding the instruction to include the Nominet TAG in the submission instructions for the Member petition? I only noticed that instruction today on what must have been about my tenth visit to the page (needless to say I forgot ours, which is MEMORABLE)

Yes as I understand it is 5% of current members who have voting rights can call a EGM as it is under company law rules, as Nominet even though it is limited by Guarantee is still a limited company.

For this action it is nothing to do with the number of domains held by those members.

When there other votes like choosing a Director a more complex formula that includes the domains held by a registrar is taken into account.

At the moment we make it 4.8% of the 2015 voting rights based on 106 members:

So we need 0.2% more and that takes more members than you would think.

A member with the standard 1300 voting rights is only about 0.01%

Unless you are in the Top 20 members then you have 3% - 0.5%
