Does anyone have any experience of a good email subscription management system?

Must allow for automated subscribe / unsubscribe.
Handle 1,000 or more emails easily - I am not becoming a spammer :-)

Would prefer a GPL solution in PHP but just interested to know what is out there that works well.

Thanks

I use the free version ymlp too for several websites I have been involved in. It's an excellent system and the ads are very tiny - at the bottom of any mail you send out.

A free version is available but sponsored with ads, but you can pay to be ad free.

I recommended it to alchemylive.com and they're happy with it so far. I've also noticed a long-established shopping site using it.

I've never used it myself, but my egg head friend recommends Mailman. By the look of it, it does need some server side tinkering to get it installed and working though.

If you've got cpanel on your server then you should have mailman. Its a pig to install yourself. (unless they made it easier since I tried couple years back)
