Bit of a new one for me. I have a domain which is sold to an EU. Its paid for etc so as good as done.
The first time I sent the transfer it wasnt done. I emailed them again and said it was being sent, they said they didnt know how to complete it so I explained it in clear steps and they were happy to try again.
Safe to say it wasnt done. I emailed them and tried a 3rd time which has just expired.

I would say I have done enough to help them.
The domain is expired so there isnt that much time left.
What would you do?

You would renew it. Not just let it drop?
This is a less than £100 deal.

I'd definitely renew it. That's just 6 quid or so and gives them 2 more years to muck around. Remember, their money's still theirs until they take possession of the domain.

The alternative is to let it expire and drop and refund their money. If you keep their money but they don't get the domain (for WHATEVER reason) you're basically ripping them off.

Yep, I would renew it too. A 6 quid hit to your wallet is nothing. If it is caught on the drop, it will be you who is made out to be the bad one.

Most folks in general don't understand domains and/or domain transfer process. They will just think you took the money and ran. 99% of the population are not domainers.

Fair enough. What would you do in 2 years time though should the situation not be any different?

I wouldn't try for 2 years to force a transfer. I'm sure it's reasonable to just give up after that length of time. It's probably reasonable to assume after 6 months the the deal will not be completed. Sell it then.

This is what I put in my T&C:

If the buyer fails to transfer the domain name it will be treated as uncollected goods.
After six months the domain may be used for my benefit.
After one year I will send a letter to the invoice address.
After two years, I will put the domain up for sale.
The original purchase price less my expenses will be refunded up to a limit of six years.
Domains will always be renewed (at cost).

Problem averted. EU has done the transfer.
But thanks for your tips and I will take them onboard, especially when dealing with EUs.
