I F**KING hate this !

Why do people have this as their landing page, it says enter site and you have to click it, ffs the web user has just enter your URL to visit your site so it's obvious that they want to enter your site

eg bristolboatsltd.co.uk/

It's like owning a shop, closing the door and leaving the keys in the lock with a sign saying turn the key to enter shop

I hate it

btw that site is cr*p, they have an hidden menu and 4 links with 1 that doesn't work !
I didn't nav away because I had to look as I am looking for advertisers for my bristol boats site.

Was that a bouncy ball I hear ? no it's your potential customers bouncing :roll:

I was going to say thats horrendous from an seo point of view... but then visited his site and it got a whole lot worse. Once you click through the "enter" page, the rest of his site is in frames

I was going to say maybe when he sees referrer traffic from here he'll fix his landing page, but I doubt he even knows what referrer traffic is or how to check where people are coming from.

<unrelatedrant>What I hate is random videos/flash starting when you load a page, I've ALWAYS hated flash...for most people it was a fad, someone people it seems to be there life. </unrelatedrant>

I don't mind flash so much, as long as its not got music in it. Nothing worse than music playing for absolutely no reason. I've got a killer example but I can't really share it - he's a client

I think music (or any sounds at all) auto playing when you arrive at the site is only acceptable if you're visiting a bands site!

I've tried telling people this in the past, but honestly not worth the hassle. They've either spent a lot of time or money creating some masterpiece and they don't want to hear me saying it sucks.

Unless what they are doing directly conflicts with what I"m being paid to do (rank their site) then I will just leave it be. And as stupid as having your logo in flash and playing classical music (seriously!) is, it won't stop him ranking.

Strange, but true. I have told people I know in business that an Enter Here page on their website is worthless or that blaring music isn't conducive to office surfing, but they are more likely to be offended than to take action.

Another pet hate, animated graphics like spinning email signs.

I now show people my Timewaster site to show how annoying a website can be
