Hand regged Familyville.co.uk a few weeks back and received a $1,000 today over at Sedo (bidder is from U.K.)...
Any idea on potential value? Can't see value going past branding potential with this one. Maybe I should hold out for a higher offer?

I think the chances of Zynga wanting to acquire the .co.uk are quite slim though. I'd also say it has the potential to be classed as an abusive registration, so you may want to consider taking the offer.

If it goes through I would class this as a very lucky sale. If it doesn't go through I would leave the domain alone (don't park it) and even consider deleting it.

Steer clear of TM names or names that could be confused with some elses brand. As WB says, if Zynga wanted to take it from you, they probably could.

I'd guess its the trademark owner wanting it. Its cheaper to pay you $1k than to force you to hand it over, which will probably be the next step if you turn this offer down

not saying it's right large brands go after pure generic terms like 'ville'
but they are

FaceBook wanted to go after "book" but that was blocked. "Ville" is an extremely popular term in Europe (means "town" in France, Switzerland etc.).
Even if the TM goes through (which it hasn't as of today), the domain was registered beforehand. It will be blocked no doubt, for various reasons.
Cityville.com is another case whereby the domain was first registered before the TM application as well and that was why the name was purchased afterwards for just short of $40K. I am not saying that this is going to happen with my domain - and of course there has been no official announcement that a product/service/game WILL 100% be released in the near future with the term "family ville".

I think you'd need to be crazy to turn down this $1k. Though to be honest, I'm going to laugh if you don't take it and end up getting a $50k legal bill instead.

I didn't think i had anything more to add to this thread but, some people just don't seem to know when their boats come-in. Makes you laugh though.

Federer, it's your domain do whatever you want but, seems little point in asking for advice / comments if all you want to do is overstate your own slightly precarious position. Of course you have a nice predated ccld registered TM domain - Now what ? are you going to do with it
