Hi,

I remember someone posting something about a 'domain lookup tool'.

i.e. I want to find every version of registered domain that includes the word bluewidget.

Any ideas on a tool that can do this would be great.

Thanks

Sorry, didn;t explaon myself clearly enough!

I'm looking to find every variation of domain already registered that contains the phrase 'bluewidget'.

i.e

www.cheapbluewidget.co.uk
www.ibluewidget.co.uk
www.bluewidget4u.co.uk

Think I saw a tool like this mentioned on here.

If you can help, please let me know. Thanks.
But you can use this tool for variation some of this tool show you also if are availabel or not
I see you want *.co.uk but bluewidget.net is free for registration

lol. I think he's just looking for a tool that shows registered domains containing a given string

You could download the .com zone and grep it for the .coms.

No such option exists for .co.uk unless someone with drop lists and their own database were willing to run it for you.

You'd be better grep'ing the .com zone or finding one of the .com search sites, then replace the .com with .co.uk and running that list.

OK - thanks.

That's a shame - hoped there was a clever tool that I could query the Nominet database.

Thanks for your help though.

My thoughts as well.
Bonus: possibly grab some .com available but registered in (.co).uk

The .be registry has such a tool but it is restricted. As a domain holder, you can receive a list of registered domains that are 'similar' to yours. In practice you receive a lot of domains that are hardly related, but this could be a tool for finding potential end users.

I think that service should be free. It must form a small part of N's income and making it free may well generate extra registrations/transfers.

Just my view.

I pay for PRSS access however its use is governed by various rules which I have to adhere to or risk losing access and my services aren't available for free. Otherwise please see this thread.

Yes, someone else sent me a PM about this. Would have been worth me signing up for this, but I needed the info urgently and it takes a few days to get approved.

Would certainly be useful if this info was freely available.
