Yeah good link cheers.

Anyone have an idea how to do this?

I deleted the user.dat file from my old laptop, and now it wont even boot, no matter what. Not in dos or anything

I do know there is a copy i made before deleting user2.dat on there

Could this be fixed?

If i took the hd out, could I access the files this way?

May sound like an easy thing, but its just something I havent got round to?

Buy a hard drive caddy off ebay for about a tenner, you can then access the drive and put the user.dat file back on it. Jobs a goodun!

Try booting it with a Windows CD and doing a repair.

If that doesn't work and you've got a second drive in it, install windows on to that, then you can access the other drive to put the files back or get your data off.

I need something like that ?

I had an sd card in my phone but spent the day filming in a tv studios and had my phone turned on all the time, on silent ofcourse

Anyway the next day i went to look at my photos and the files say unrecognised but the amount of memory used to store vids and photos still shows ?

This is what the files look like []555[][][]5555555[][]555[][]5555[][]55
Kind of like that

Anyone know ? i think they have been super compressed and need extracting somehow ?

Would love to rescue these photos as my photos and vids from a Roger Waters concert are on there :(

Thanks !!!
