Thanks. I had used a Dropcatch system in the past where you bid for the right to purchase a domain. Whatever you bid is the price of the domain, if it is caught. You can then resell. I am not sure what the point of putting a bid in here is, if it is only going to go to auction anyway, if caught.

I am not convinced by DomainLore. It has lots of high value names but I only managed to sell one and that was for £50. It was a 3 character co.uk which should have been worth much more. I have tried plenty of good domains (at9.co.uk, sexuk.co.uk, 1me.co.uk, motorcycle.org.uk, icer.uk) and no interest, even for £50. Lots of far more obscure names have sold for considerably more (yo-promotions.co.uk £901, jennashworth.co.uk £2861 and similar) I have sold plenty for considerably more on other sites. Anyway, I have got three more running at the moment and I will see how they go (cameramen.co.uk, sexid.co.uk and 19.org.uk)

It can be as simple as just making sure you get notification if the domain you're after does actually go for auction.

The market seems especially quiet at mo, but there are loads of instances of 3ch domains going for 50 quid.... just because its 3 chaacters, you still need to actually find a use for it as an end user. If its 'sex.uk' is obviously going to worth orders of magnitude more than 'xqz.uk' Domainlore itself doesn't set the price.... it's an auction site, and has been around for a long time.

Haven't checked, but I suspect these are SEO domains with authority and links. There's a thread here somewhere about some of current batch being bought up for use to promote gambling afilliates.
