For example

A) hull/pest/control/co/uk
or
B) pest/control/hull/co/uk

Which do you think is better for rankings?
Which do you think is better for sell on value?

If you don't have any reasoning, simply which do you prefer the look of?

Go for the one with the highest search volume ;)

I tried a few combinations and the search volume (exact) for <service> <location> was higher.

@golddiggerguy

Totally missed that thread, my bad!

@dotNetFreak

Tried the keyword tool, probably should have tried with a more popular city to get better results, Hull came back with lots of 'Not enough data'

I like the look of Geo-Sevice.co.uk better as I always think pest control hull co uk should have in added to sound right.

But Hull Pest Control co uk doesn't.

What's your plans Dave, what's in the pipe line for that sort of thinking?

GDG :cool:

Nothing planned to be honest, it's just that I realised the other day I registered hullpestcontrol.co.uk for a friend a couple of years ago and wondered how it compared with the other way around.

Looking at the competition on google, I think if I switch my friends site to trade on that domain rather than his tradename, I'd be able to get well ranked.

How are your ventures with hull domains going?

Ironic actually as I regged Hull-PestControl just yesterday!!:eek: give him a nudge if he wants a bit more exposure soon! ;)

Hull venture........ a lot to still do on the mini sites and the main directory they run around but looking to launch myself at businesses towards the end of this month.

Thats the trouble with businesses and domains always want to use JohnSmith-SonsLtd.co.uk :)

Look, tell me if I'm not making sense -

You need to justify your approach, and tell them what is best "in your experience". Tell them how to look at their site stats, so they can measure progress.

So they want the company name up there ? Reg both that and something practical, sell them a parent site and a minisite for each practical "other domain". More work, so you get paid, and they'll thank you in the end.

If you are driving the SEO, you are in a position to drive the traffic to where it makes you look like you are a prophet.
If you build in some costs for a little SEO into your charges, then do it WITHOUT THE CUSTOMER KNOWING, they will be open to suggestions from you for future business, bigtime.

Some days I wish I knew HOW, rather than just "what".
