I feel people holding back on the churn and burn minisite stuff (and even proper dev) since the recent google slap, hence dumping portfolios..

I cant be bothered no more for minisites to be honest, you put the time and effort in, only to get slapped by a google update.

Id much rather work on a few sites that i am very much interested and involved in on a daily basis.

Starting to hate the internet, changing careers, want to quit all this shit. That about sums up my view.

EDIT: Just want to say that this isn't due to the google slap. All my sites were better thanks to it. It's due to a few reasons, the main one being I'm not enjoying this anymore.

Let's face it, there was a time when all you had to do to get traffic to a site is buy an exact match domain name. I was always slightly surprised that Google gave such an advantage simply because you had an EMD. To a certain extent it still works on bing and Yahoo, but unfortunately they have no traffic.

Anyway, just because Easy Street is over, doesn't mean it's Game Over, it's just that you actually have to build something decent now.

The main problem for big portfolio owners is that they won't necessarily be able to build out their domains quickly enough. It doesn't mean their domains are valueless.
