It won't kill Paypal, that's just silly talk.

It might take a bit of it's market share but it won't come anywhere near killing it in the UK.

I think your completly wrong there.

paypal does not have a great reputation, crap API, bad press with paypal scammers etc.

Google will eat paypal for breakfast with in 2years.

I reckon most uk consumers would be happy paying with google checkout.

paypal is not invincible..

As long as Paypal are in bed with ebay they will still used.

As for UK consumers 'trusting' Google? I'm not so sure the average consumer will be that trusting of Google.

No, I certainly won't be using any merchant that only accepts a google payment gateway (a good job I left the country I suppose haha) as i don't wish to support google anymore, they're too big now, doing too many things, and could well infringe on many of our profits in the future, people have to realise, google are the enemy.

Some merchants are as thick as they come, they'd sell their children if it meant more sales at less cost. What's it got to do with affiliates? nothing, only google trying to get affiliates through merchants to promote them, well no I won't so clear off google.

And the uk first bull**** is getting tiresome.

Just looked over the fees:

If you exceed your free transaction processing for the month or you do not advertise with AdWords at all, you will only be charged 1.5% + £0.15 per transaction.

Which is better than PayPal I believe.

Also:

With its proprietary fraud detection technology, Google Checkout works to protect you from unwarranted chargebacks. In cases where you are found liable for a chargeback, you will be charged the full amount of the chargeback plus an additional £7 chargeback fee.

Be careful with Chargebacks!

Paypals main strength is Ebay - not looked at the figures... but if google could buy ebay...! :)

agreed
paypal is easy & they have the head start, i know they're not perfect by any means, but i don't think they'll be sweating. they will obviously lose some profits though
