Hi guys,

Does anyone know of the google email/contact addy to report sites that have scraped content and are blatantly using copyrighted material?

am getting pee'd off with seeing my original stuff reproduced on shite mfa crap sites

is there any other resource that you know of which can help diminish this practice/

cheers

If your content is indexed first then google will most likely already treat their reproduction of it as such. I'm not sure if they'd penalise sites beyond that. Is it always the same people of group of people doing this? I would suggest sending a take down notice, but depening on their attitude and location, they might ignore it.

Maybe this will be of use:

Unfortunately I don't think this is necessarily true. If the copied content is being shown on a site with higher ranked PR their is a real chance google will give this preference over the original source. Esp as date of indexing doesn't always equal date of publication

There are exceptions yes, but typically I think the original source of content usually draws the most eyeballs and inbound links. I agree though, that it's of concern if you do find a small site being ripped off by one with mre authority. In a worse case scenario there, you could feasibly even be penalised for your own original content.

jwm - do you know if google are contactable in relation to this particular issue, or do you think that they instead would just send out a template style reply suggesting that they are always fine tuning their service to better spot those guilty of this.

Ahhh just used copyscape and someone is copying my stuff! can I call the police?

I had submitted to Google, but I want to take him off, he's with Moniker and I can't find the button to report spam

Please let us know the results. I’ve been fighting “info thieves” for ages, even copyscape is not much help. This is one of the reasons that I’ve stopped using eZine :(
