Hi,

i have had

eight8.co.uk

for a while now and I wondered if anyone had any contacts or influence within Chinese markets or domain communities who would be able to judge if there would be any interest in this particular name.

I would be happy to discuss a percentage of sale deal if the right deal was struck.

Alternatively I would equally welcome anyone saying that its pretty worthless and I'm wasting my time.

Thanks either way to any takers!!!

Cheers,

Paul

If it was 8.co.uk or eight.co.uk someone would probably take it on. As it is it's pretty worthless and would be a total waste of time for a broker to sell it as the fee would be non existent.

Sorry.

Grant

thanks

Thanks Grant

Would you recommend just letting it expire this time then??

Cheers,

Paul

chinese folk....

Thanks again Grant

I'm not one to go with statistics but there must be a least one or two crazy chinese folk in a population of 1.3 billion and if I email them one by one I'm sure to get a bite eventually!!!

lucky lucky man....

I suppose thats why the number plate was on that HSBC advert!!

I think that was the impetus for the purchase in the first place - but my age does make me forget why I buy some of my domains!!!

Think I might keep hold and hope for a bit of 'luck of the Irish' as well!!

Thanks guys for your comments

Eight is considered auspicious in China because its pronunciation in Cantonese sounds the same as the word for to make money
Chinese culture is steeped in superstition, with numbers playing a major role in birthdays, wedding dates and naming.
Six, eight and nine are considered lucky numbers, while four, seven and even one are considered more unfortunate.
The pronunciation of nine means everlasting, particularly in relationships, while six means things will go smoothly.
Telephone numbers, licence plates and even residential or business addresses which use any of or a combination of those numbers are extremely popular and often cost more.
Conversely, anything involving the numbers four and seven are avoided as much as possible. Four sounds like the Chinese word for death. Seven translates as "gone" which can also mean death, while one can signify loneliness.

I agree with domain angel, eighteighteight.com will worth much more than 8eight.com speaking myself as a Chinese LOL!
