Hi , as you can see I am new to the forum and taking my first tentative steps in the domain name world.

I know this is probably the wrong way round, but does anyone mind if they could spare the time, to answer a couple of questions, mainly for my own research?

Firstly, how many of you actually make a living from domains?

Secondly, as a general average, how many domains do you think constitutes a decent portfolio.

Finally, just for fun, who here believes they own the most truly random domain? Answers on a postcard for Bully's special prize!

Before trying to "make money" from domains, lean the trade by trawling this and other forums to "save money" from buying the wrong domains.

Earnings can come from "monetising" the domains which is earning from adverts on the domain, affiliate links etc or selling the domain on.

Selling domains is much harder, you can see some recent sales on domainprices.co.uk or find some well priced onces for sale on FCDomains site.

Quantity of domains has little relevance, probably 25% of mine actually earn anything, the rest are just there in the vein hope i could sell them.

Take your time and you can do well at this, especially if you find a high paying keyword niche.

The only reason I even got anywhere initially was by buying and selling a few domains, and only for very small profits. However the interesting aspect for me is monetizing the names, and to be honest you guys seem a lot friendlier and more experienced than anyone else.
