Hi

I quite fancy taking a chance on these .me domains, once again they are so cheap to buy.

I have just bought

hottalk.me

datedirect.me

directdate.me

Any of these any good for the future do you think

Regards

Gav

Hi Guys

Anyone with any idea on these 3 domains.

I just don't want to waste time building minisites if they are not going to be worth anything in the future.

Thanks Kindly

Hi accelerator

Thanks for your comments as always.

I don't think there are any uk trade mark on these.

Just thought they would make good mini sites.

Thanks

Thanks doodlebug

Just a question I am a bit unsure of.

I am thinking of making these domains into mini sites once I have finished the projects I am doing at the minute. However I would not want spend the money to trademark these names.

Lets say that I built these domains into mini sites ( Currently all parked at whypark as are all my other domains at the minute )would someone then be able to come along and trademark these names if my sites were up and running, or would a person not be able to trademark the name as It had already been developed into a online site.

Just not quite sure how it works as sureley it would be unfair to any business that has developed a domain and had established it, for someone to come along and trademark that domain that you have been using for x amount of time.

Anyone know how this works

Thanks

Gav

They could register a trademark, e.g. datedirect, but they couldn't then take the domain off you because they would have registered the trademark after you had the domain, so you'll be ok.

More of a concern would be if there's a datingdirect trademark, they might object to you using datedirect in the UK. Your name is close enough that they might become concerned, and I'm not sure whether the "it's generic" defense would necessarily work with the datedirect term.

However, if they have an aff programme, and you were exclusively promoting them, that wouldn't be a problem. That would probably be a profitable use of the site anyway.

Rgds

If you trade using your own trademark you don't have to register the trademark, as long as you can prove you was trading under that mark before someone else ie, a live minisite then you will usually be ok ;)

Registering a trademark makes it easier should someone challenge your trademark.

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks Doodlebug

Is having them parked ( Whypark ) the same or do I need to actually build a mini site like what I have done for some of my other domains.

ie www,ticketline,me

( Im no web designer and this only took me a few hours to build, but do you mean it have to be a mini site like this or would the whypark be ok ? )

Thanks again
