how do I find out other domains held by a person? (is there a tool?)

im sure i saw on this forum a website where you could see domains held by the same registrant ?

Ive had a good search but cant fins the thread

Not without paying and I don't think it's accurate.

whois.sc will say xxxxx owns 124 other domains etc.

You can subscribe to nominets prss service which is circa £400 pa but you may have to be a member to do so. Or you can beg on here for someone to do an odd search or maybe throw them a couple of quid.

Domain tools will give you the information - http://www.domaintools.com/ - and I don't think a single report is that expensive.

Hmmm... I stand corrected. Not sure $125 for a report of a single registrant could be considered inexpensive.
